On the 6th January 2021, I set up a fundraising page to raise money for The Burton Breast Care Unit who have been taking care of me since my diagnosis.

I originally set up the page to raise just £500, however after 2 days I had accomplished this target so raised it to £2000.. I still have a bit to go, so please keep sharing this page for me. Donate

I have been totally overwhelmed by the generosity of you all, and received messages from women that have or are travelling the same journey.

Your advice from either Skin Care, Wigs, Hat & Scarfs but most importantly my mental health whilst this is all going on, has been something I will never forget, so thank you.

“The hardest part was telling our children. It’s that word you never want to share with your kids as they only conclude one outcome and that is not always the case.

“The children have been great. Ben doesn’t live at home but keeps me entertained on video calls.

"Phil and the girls had to self-isolate for 14 days to keep me safe. Britney works for Aldi and I must thank them for allowing her at the busiest time of year to self-isolate.

“Paris and Pixie-Mai attend Wilnecote and Dosthill School and they have also been so supportive to the girls through what has been an awful time.

"Phil, my partner of 19 years, has been so supportive. He is my rock and is keeping me positive throughout my journey.”

So now is the time for Joanne to give back to the doctors that helped her.

She explained: “Anyone who knows me knows that, over the years, I have raised money by completing Race for Life in Sutton Park.

"I have helped a friend (Sharon Fox Cancer Centre) and I’ve even visited St Giles Hospice to paint nails for a beautiful lady who was losing her life to cancer, and managed to get married a week before it took her life.
